Around $29 million is set to soar towards projects that improve the safety and accessibility of airports in regional Australia.
The third round of the Regional Airports Program is now open for applications, with grants between $20,000 and $5 million available to cover up to 50% of eligible project costs.
The program provides grants to improve the safety and accessibility of airports or aerodromes in regional areas, helping to support the delivery of goods and services and connect Australia’s regions to market opportunities.
Eligible projects include:
- resurfacing runways to ensure air operators can land safely and without damaging their aircraft
- fencing to prevent animals entering the airport, providing safer landings for air operators
- lighting to allow aircraft to land at night to support emergency services
- drainage works to prevent flooding or erosion of runway surfaces
Applications are now open until 17 May 2022, 5.00pm AEST
