Nominations open for local government awards

Has your local council delivered an outstanding project in 2021? You can now nominate them to be recognised for their achievements.

Nominations for this year’s National Awards for Local Government (the Awards) are now open, recognising excellence in service delivery and innovative projects that make a real difference in the lives of Australians.

Now more than ever, the work of local governments is vital in delivering services and support for local communities.

In a first for the Awards, local governments can nominate their outstanding projects via an online submission across eight award categories, that  include arts and culture, regional growth, road safety, Indigenous recognition, infrastructure, social cohesion and addressing violence against women and children. Simply register through our online awards portal, select the award category and submit a 350 words statement explaining why your local council should receive an award.

In another first for the awards, councils will have the opportunity to recognise the work and achievements of their peers in the local government sector through an open voting system. Community members will also be able to vote for projects across each category that display excellence, innovation and replicability.

Established 35 years ago, the Awards continue to celebrate local government initiatives that deliver tangible benefits to their communities and recognise their achievements on the national stage.

Nominations close at 11:59 PM, (AEDT), 19 November 2021.
