National Location Registry to boost Australian freight

Australia’s freight industry is set to rise to new heights after the launch today of the National Location Registry.

The National Location Registry is a digital tool that provides more accurate and reliable location data across all industries, including physical pick-up and delivery locations, replacing the current manual process.

Australia’s road freight task is forecast to grow more than 50% over the next 2 decades and the tool will be a key enabler to helping the industry run as efficiently as possible.

It will help track operating hours, weight and height restrictions for vehicles, entry points, driver amenities and safety requirements in thousands of locations across Australia.

This will make it easier for freight operators to collect and deliver goods meaning Australian businesses and consumers will get their orders faster and more reliably.

Businesses can register their location and encourage their suppliers and transport providers to use the Registry as well.

The Registry is managed by GS1 Australia and is a key project under the National Freight Data Hub initiative, which is making more data available to support the freight industry.
