Interstate Terminal commissioned at Australia’s largest logistics hub

The Interstate Terminal at the Moorebank Intermodal Precinct was officially commissioned in Sydney’s west on the site of Australia’s largest logistics hub.

The new world-class Interstate Terminal is the first of its kind in Australia, being available to all industry participants and part of a fully integrated industrial precinct.

It is Australia’s first major metropolitan ‘independent’ interstate terminal, operating under an open access arrangement and not controlled by a single existing above rail operator.

Each train that comes through the interstate terminal will move over 1,500 tonnes of freight connecting communities from both the city and country, while more than 6,800 precinct-wide jobs will be created on site.

With the capacity to manage 500,000 twenty-foot containers annually and co-located with over 850,000 square meters of modern industrial warehousing, when complete the Moorebank Intermodal Precinct will lead to consumers paying substantially lower prices for essential goods.

The Australian Government has committed $570 million towards the Intermodal Precinct.
