Final NBN upgrades in the works

The Australian Government is working with NBN Co to finish upgrading the NBN network so Australians have access to the highest quality broadband.

The upgrade will see all of the remaining Fibre to the Node (FTTN) network completed to provide Australian families and businesses access to faster, more reliable broadband services.

The Australian Government is committing up to $3 billion and NBN Co $800 million to the upgrades, which will enable access to higher internet speeds for around 622,000 additional premises by 2030.

When the upgrade program is complete, more than 94% of premises on the fixed line network – over 11 million homes and businesses - will have access to connections enabling speeds of up to 1 Gbps. This work is a continuation  of the Australian Government’s $2.4 billion investment in NBN Co’s fibre upgrades.
