Four suppliers have been identified to deliver projects to increase the visibility of aviation as a career for girls and women.
Following the release of the Women in the Aviation Industry Initiative Strategic Action Plan in September 2023, the Initiative continues to go from strength to strength. Four suppliers have been identified to deliver projects to increase the visibility of aviation as a career for girls and women, and drive long-term cultural change to increase inclusion within the aviation industry.
Guided by the Initiative's Strategic Action Plan, the four suppliers will work in partnership with the Australian Government to:
- increase visibility and awareness of the exciting breadth of careers in aviation available, through outreach activities targeting school students, and
- drive cultural change, through programs fostering skills development amongst emerging women leaders in the industry, targeting flight instructors to increase their leadership and inclusion skills, targeting male champions of change, and developing whole-of-industry behavioural interventions using nudge theory.
Together, these activities will help to attract girls and women to the aviation industry, and retain their skills and experience by ensuring the environments they work in are welcoming.
A further $2.9 million will be available to June 2026 to fund activities relating to visibility and awareness, leadership and culture, and collaboration as outlined in the Strategic Action Plan.
