Applications for Round 9 of the Australian Government’s Remote Airstrip Upgrade (RAU) Program are now open, with grants to enhance the safety and accessibility of aerodromes in remote and very remote areas of Australia on offer for successful applicants.
Applications for Round 9 of the Australian Government’s Remote Airstrip Upgrade (RAU) Program are now open.
The program is designed to give successful applicants a grant to enhance the safety and accessibility of aerodromes in remote and very remote areas of Australia. It will assist to provide remote airstrips with year-round, all-weather access, particularly where road access is unavailable or unreliable.
A total of $15 million is available in Round 9, with eligible owners or operators of existing aerodromes in remote or very remote areas of Australia able to apply for a grant of between $5,000 and $3 million.
This forms part of the Australian Government’s Aviation Recovery Framework and commitment to invest in the future of regional communities by making priority aerodrome upgrades a reality.
Suitable projects include:
- Sealing, resealing or re-sheeting aircraft pavements
- Repairing, restoring and/or reconstructing airstrips, taxiways and aprons
- Drainage works
- Lighting
- Fencing
- Provision of markers and navigational aids
- Reducing safety hazards
- Safety training.
Applications are now open and will close 5pm on 17 March 2022.
