The National Heavy Vehicle Regulator is calling for funding applications for initiatives that will deliver safety improvements for the Australian heavy vehicle industry and all road users.
The Australian Government is providing $5.6 million towards safety projects as part of Round 7 of the Heavy Vehicle Safety Initiative (HVSI).
The National Heavy Vehicle Regulator (NHVR) is calling for funding applications for initiatives that will deliver safety improvements for the Australian heavy vehicle industry and all road users.
Eligible initiatives may include:
- programs and projects that deliver heavy vehicle safety outcomes
- technology/materials to support industry to increase safety awareness and compliance
- heavy vehicle safety education and awareness campaigns.
Previously funded projects include programs to:
- educate drivers on how to safely share the road with heavy vehicles
- support improved mental health and individual wellbeing in truck drivers
- reduce crashes across Australia for the dairy industry
- improve the emergency response performance of the bulk tanker dangerous goods sector.
In total, the Government has so far allocated around $33.6 million to the HVSI over the seven rounds.
Applications for Round 7 funding are open until 14 February 2022.
Projects must be implemented during the 2022–23 financial year and be completed within two years of commencement.
