Regional artists, arts workers and organisations are invited to apply for Australian Government support with Round 17 of the Festivals Australia program now open.
Providing $1.4 million over two funding rounds each year, the Festivals Australia program funds projects that give people in regional and remote Australia the opportunity to experience arts and culture in their local community.
It is a specialised program that encourages community participation in arts projects at regional and remote festivals or community celebrations, that play a key role in communities becoming and staying connected.
Activities eligible for funding include, but are not limited to, performances, workshops, installations, parades or exhibitions held as part of a festival or a significant one-off community event. Activities should support community participation and audience engagement. Round 17 is for activities starting from February 2024.
Festivals give people opportunities to affirm cultural networks, support individual wellbeing, and build social cohesion. They can also promote cultural exchange across communities, strengthening Australia’s vibrant multicultural society.
The Government’s support through the Festivals Australia program means more job opportunities for artists and arts workers; and has significant flow-on benefits for the tourism industry and related sectors in regional and remote communities.
Applications for Round 17 close midnight AEDT, 4 October 2023. To find out more and apply, visit https://www.arts.gov.au/funding-and-support/festivals-australia.
