The Norfolk Island Multipurpose Health Services Facility design is progressing well.
Thank you to those who provided input through a number of community drop-in sessions and targeted meetings on island last week. Your engagement continues to inform the facility’s initial design concepts.
The project team, including KPMG and design services contractor GHD Pty Ltd presented updated design concepts to Norfolk Island residents, following the recent community and stakeholder feedback on the original integrated design.
The presentations included an updated village design option that includes repositioning the residential aged care facility in order to take full advantage of the views across the valley.
The sessions generated a significant amount of interest and discussion from the large number of attendees, with the community generously contributing their time and local knowledge to the project.
I would like to offer my sincere thanks to all those who attended, with the sessions yielding fresh insights to help inform the 30 per cent design as it is finalised. The 30 per cent Concept Design Report is due for completion in December 2020.
The project team will hold further community and stakeholder feedback sessions as the design progresses, including further on-Island visits.
Once finalised, a community update based on the concept design will be available to the community on the Department’s website at www.regional.gov.au/territories/norfolk_island/norfolk_island_health_services/Multipurpose-Health-Services-Facility-Project.aspx. We will advise the community when the update is public.
Progression to the construction stage is subject to Government budget and Parliamentary approval processes anticipated to commence in late 2021.
