Release of reports detail planning for economic growth and service delivery

23 October 2015

From next week, I will be releasing the first of a series of reports which will inform reform policy and future delivery of services and economic development for Norfolk Island.

These reports were commissioned by the Department of Infrastructure and Regional Development in mid-2015 and focus on the following key areas:

  • Government Business Enterprises;
  • mobile telecommunication;
  • roads;
  • agricultural pests and diseases; and
  • economic development.

The documents are the result of months of careful review of current arrangements on Norfolk Island, identifying issues and areas of improvement, considering the needs of the community and businesses.

The recent completion of these reports will assist the Administration of Norfolk Island (ANI) to better position its operations and meet service delivery needs of the community as it transitions to a Regional Council from 1 July 2016.

I would like to thank the wide range of stakeholders who have been consulted and have provided feedback, including advocating for improvements, innovative ideas, areas of concern and opportunities.

The Hon. Gary Hardgrave
