Alternative Voice Services Trials underway

Applications are now open to the AVST program

The Alternative Voice Services Trials (AVST) program will provide grants to organisations to trial different ways to deliver voice services in rural and remote areas of Australia.

The objective of the trials is to identify new ways to deliver voice services, including by new providers and technologies, and assess their effectiveness to provide improved services and functionality.

Trials will be delivered within NBN Co’s fixed wireless and satellite footprints, including those serviced by Telstra’s high capacity radio concentrator (HCRC) network.

The AVST program was announced as part of the Government’s response to the 2018 Regional Telecommunications Independent Review Committee, and will receive $2 million in Government funding.

We are seeking a range of alternative voice technologies and providers to participate in the trials. Those interested can access the guidelines, grant agreement and application form through GrantConnect.
