CR 68: Review of the Australian day-to-day travel survey database, 1985–86 (1987)

This report evaluates the quality of the risk exposure data base derived from the Survey of Day-to-Day Travel in Australia 1985-86. Repunching a 1.6% sample of the survey forms and comparing with the original data sets revealed a less than 1% error rate.

CR 73: Community attitudes to road safety, community attitudes survey Wave II (1987)

Reark Research was commissioned by FORS to conduct a survey of community attitudes towards road safety. The survey followed a methodology developed in October 1986. This survey replicates core questions, as asked in the first survey.

CR 50: Examination of the Relationship between Road Traffic Crashes and Violations in the ACT (1987)

Data from the Australian Federal Police on traffic offences in the ACT and data from the National Capital Development Commission on road crashes in the ACT were combined to form a database linking offence histories and crash histories of drivers.

CR 49: Survey of occupant restraint (1987)

This study was commissioned to provide, on a comparable basis throughout urban and rural Australia, information on seat belt wearing rates and the characteristics of people not wearing seat belts.

CR 65: A content analysis of the representation of traffic-related incidents on Australian television (1987)

This study analyses the way Australian television represents traffic-related incidents. It focuses on programs watched by school-age children and describes the nature and frequency of those incidents from which children might possibly learn about road safety.

CR 67: Road safety enforcement, A literature review (1987)

The report examines the application of resources and means of maximising enforcement strategies for road safety. Human factors, the law, policing, and mechanical design are analysed as part of the road safety system. Contributions from police in Australia and other countries are included.

CR 55: Motorcycle and bicycle protective helmets requirements resulting from a post crash study and experimental research (1987)

A post crash investigation of 329 Motorcycle and Bicycle crashes involving head injury using police, hospital and Post Mortem data and damage assessment of the protective helmets worn in the crash.

CR 51: A data base for the evaluation of road user risk in Australia (1987)

The report details a national travel survey undertaken throughout Australia commencing August 1985 for one year. It was a self-administered mail-back survey design.

CR 59: Head and neck injuries in passenger cars, A review of the literature (1987)

The report discusses the characteristics of head and neck injuries sustained by occupants of passenger cars. The epidemiology and biomechanics of such injuries are discussed. The extent and prognosis of treatment is described.

CR 57: Driving performance measures and licence tests. A literature review (1987)

The purpose of this report was to review literature relating to car driver licence testing. Major objectives of testing systems were identified as establishing competence and setting a standard.
