A Project Noticeboard for communities to help identify potential projects or locations for the new First Nations Community Wi-Fi program is now open.
The department is currently consulting on the draft Grant Opportunity Guidelines for a new $20 million First Nations Community Wi-Fi program (the Program), which will open for applications in early 2025 following the consultation period. Up to $20 million in Government funding is available to provide free community Wi-Fi solutions in eligible remote and very remote First Nations communities.
The Project Noticeboard is now available for community representatives, state, territory and local governments to identify potential projects or locations that would benefit from free community Wi-Fi. Community members are encouraged to speak to their local representatives to help identify priority areas for their community.
The Project Noticeboard will close approximately two weeks after the First Nations Community Wi-Fi Program Grant Opportunity opens for applications.
This Program is part of a $68 million package of First Nations Digital Inclusion initiatives announced in the 2024-25 Budget and forms part of the Government’s $1.1 billion Better Connectivity Plan for Regional and Rural Australia.
