More than $3.5 million in Australian Government funding under the Black Spot Program will help improve 14 dangerous crash sites across Tasmania.
The state will receive $3.58 million to greatly improve safety at locations where crashes are occurring, or are risk of occurring, by funding treatments such as traffic lights, roundabouts and safety barriers.
These 14 Black Spot projects will go a long way towards reducing serious injuries and deaths on Tasmanian roads and build on previous investments across the state.
The 14 projects were recommended by the Black Spot Consultative Panel in Tasmania, which is comprised of local stakeholders and ensures projects meet the needs of local drivers.
Anyone can nominate a Black Spot for consideration. The Consultative Panels provide stakeholders with the opportunity to have a say in the project selection process and ensure nominations of the highest priority and importance to local communities are recommended for approval.
