$12.6 million in federal funding set to make Western Australian roads safer

Twenty-four dangerous crash sites on Western Australian roads will be improved under the Australian Government’s Black Spot Program.

Under the program, the state will receive $12.6 million for safety measures and road upgrades aimed at reducing serious injuries and deaths on WA roads.

These measures will include improvements to traffic signals and roundabouts at locations where a number of serious crashes are known to have occurred or present significant future risks.

Black Spot Consultative Panels provide the opportunity for stakeholders to have a say in the project selection process, and ensure that nominations of the highest priority and importance to the local community are recommended for approval.

The WA review panel includes representatives from the Royal Automobile Club of Western Australia, Western Roads Federation, Road Safety Commission, Western Australian Local Government Association and Main Roads Western Australia.
