2016/10—Construction Commencement Notification—Jervis Bay Airfield—JP9000 Phase 7 Helicopter Aircrew Training Systems (HATS) Facilities Project
The Jervis Bay Territory Administration has been advised by the Department of Defence (Defence) that the regional HATS construction phase is underway on facilities at HMAS Albatross and due to start soon at the Jervis Bay Airfield. This project will support future training for the Navy and Army helicopter aircrews.
Works in the Jervis Bay Territory will be carried out between 6am and 6pm from Monday to Friday and construction is expected to be completed by the end of May 2017.
You may notice increased vehicle and truck movements from the Entry Station along Jervis Bay Road as far as Anderson Road. A traffic management plan will be implemented to ensure that any disruption is minimised.
Following discussions between Defence, Lend Lease Building Pty Ltd (the Managing Contractor for the regional HATS project) and the Wreck Bay Aboriginal Community Council, training has been scheduled for selected local candidates and this may lead to short term employment on the project.
The potential of the regional HATS project was raised in November 2014 (refer to Jervis Bay Territory Community Bulletin number 2014/14). Parliamentary approval for the HATS project was given in March 2015 and Lend Lease was subsequently engaged as the Managing Contractor in the region.
If you would like further information about the regional HATS project, please contact Mr Warren Newbegin at warren.newbegin3@defence.gov.au
