Terms of Reference

Interested individuals and organisations were invited to make initial submissions about any aspect of the Terms of Reference, which closed on 10 March 2023.

The Australian Government is providing funding to the Special Broadcasting Service (SBS) to develop a fully costed business case for the establishment of an SBS television and radio production hub and talent incubator in Western Sydney.

The new production hub plans to feature a TV studio able to host live audiences, radio/podcasting booths, collaboration spaces for talent incubation, and a modest workspace to support production output.

The Wreck Removal Convention

The Department of Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development, Communications and the Arts, is developing a National Interest Analysis in support of Australia acceding to the Nairobi International Convention on the Removal of Wrecks (the Nairobi Wreck Convention). The National Interest Analysis and proposal to accede to the Nairobi Wreck Convention is intended to be presented to Parliament via the Joint Standing Committee for Treaties in the first half of 2023.
