ADS-B technology supplements the ‘see and avoid’ principle and increases the situational awareness of airspace users. This leads to positive safety outcomes and promotes more efficient and effective utilisation of airspace.

The ADS-B rebate program will provide grants to subsidise the purchase and installation of eligible ADS-B devices in Australian-registered aircraft operating under Visual Flight Rules (VFR). The program will provide grants of 50% of eligible expenditure, up to a maximum of $5,000 per eligible aircraft.
