On 30 March 2021 Infrastructure and Transport Ministers agreed to increase heavy vehicle road user charges for 2021-22 by 2.5 per cent. This will see State and Territory registration fees and the Commonwealth heavy vehicle Road User Charge (RUC) increase by 2.5 per cent from 1 July 2021 (noting Western Australia and the Northern Territory set their registration fees separately to national decisions).
The current RUC rate for compressed natural gas (CNG) and liquefied natural gas (LNG) is 34.4 cents per kilogram. A 2.5 per cent increase will see this increase to 35.3 cents per kilogram from 1 July 2021.
The department welcomes public feedback on the proposed cents per kilogram rates until 14 June 2021.

The department will use this information to inform the Transport Minister before he makes a decision on an increased rate of road user charge for gaseous fuels.

Submissions, in part or full, including the name of the author may be published on the department's website or in the Government’s response, unless the submission is confidential.
