Boost for the community broadcasting sector

The community broadcasting sector will receive a $27 million funding boost to support its continued operations.

The funding package includes:

  • $15 million to support the sector, including $3 million to support the community television sector, with funding provided through the Community Broadcasting Program
  • $12 million to support the First Nations broadcasting and media sector, with funding provided through the Indigenous Broadcasting and Media Program.

The funding will allow the sector to increase its workforce capability, expand news and journalism services, and continue to produce local content.

Community broadcasting plays a vital role in the Australian media landscape, connecting communities and amplifying diverse voices. Approximately 5 million Australians tune into community broadcasters every week.
