Visions of Australia funding creates sights to be seen across Australia

Arts and cultural heritage institutions across the country are encouraged to apply for a share in $2.8 million of annual funding under the Australian Government’s Visions of Australia touring program.

The program supports the development and touring of quality exhibitions across Australia, promoting the sharing of a diverse array of arts and cultural material, with an emphasis on reaching regional and remote venues.

Visions of Australia supports the National Cultural Policy, Revive, by enabling more Australians to access and participate in arts and culture in their local communities.

Previous recipients have included:

  • Museum & Galleries Queensland for the tour of Three Echoes – Western Desert Art, which is on display at Benalla Art Gallery, Victoria until 27 October.
  • ACMI (formerly Australian Centre for the Moving Image) for Two Girls From Amoonguna. This exhibition is touring to various Australian venues and will soon visit Larapinta, Northern Territory.
  • The Australian War Memorial for the contemporary exhibition Art in Conflict to travel to New South Wales, South Australia and Western Australia in 2025 – 2026.
  • The Australian Design Centre (ADC) for Living Treasures – Masters of Australian Craft, which highlights the work of acclaimed artist Helen Britton and will be shown in Queensland, Victoria, South Australia, Tasmania, Western Australia and New South Wales.

A spokesperson for the Office for the Arts said the program helps share important stories and perspectives beyond the major cities.

“Our arts and cultural scene should be enjoyed by all Australians. This program makes art accessible to audiences beyond metropolitan areas allowing them to engage with inspiring exhibitions.

“Government support through the Visions of Australia program also means more job opportunities for artists and arts workers and has significant flow-on benefits for the tourism and related industries in regional and remote communities.”

Applications for Round 19 close 5pm AEDT, Friday 27 September 2024. To find out more and apply, visit Visions of Australia | Office for the Arts.
