The Department of Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development, Communications and the Arts is pleased to announce Qantas Airways Limited will provide long-term air passenger services to Norfolk Island.
This follows the competitive tender process conducted earlier this year. An initial three (3) year contract for air passenger service delivery has now been signed with the airline, including options to extend further.
Qantas is currently delivering flights to Norfolk Island under short-term arrangements, so the finalisation of the long-term arrangements will provide the Norfolk Island community with continuity and stability in this essential service.
Current routes and flight frequency will continue under the long-term contract.
The findings of the airline services survey have informed the tender and contract process, with the Department recognising the Norfolk Island residents’ priorities include safety, reliability and sustainability.
The Australian Government is committed to supporting regular and reliable air services that best meet the current and future needs of Norfolk Island residents, tourists and businesses.
