Governor-General to Visit Christmas Island

I am delighted that His Excellency General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), Governor-General of the Commonwealth of Australia, and Her Excellency Lady Cosgrove have accepted my invitation to visit Christmas Island from Saturday, 29 September to Sunday, 30 September 2018.

Their Excellencies will be visiting Christmas Island for the first time to join the community in marking the 60th Anniversary of the transfer of sovereignty of Christmas Island to the Commonwealth of Australia.

I will be hosting a community function to welcome Their Excellencies to our wonderful community. Details of this event will be announced in due course. Their Excellencies will be the guests of honour at the 60th Anniversary Charity Gala and will also participate in other Territory Week activities during their stay.

I hope you will all join me in welcoming Their Excellencies to our beautiful island home.
