MR 13: Analysis of Improving Occupant Protection in Existing Coaches (1996)

This study was initiated to undertake a cost benefit analysis of equipping the coaches in the Australian fleet, as at 30 June 1994, with a range of occupant protection measures as outlined in the Code of Practice (Bleakly 1994). The amount of data on bus crashes in Australia is limited. There is no data readily available on coach crashes. For this reason it was assumed that the coach crash number was in the same proportion as the number of coaches in the bus fleet. A range of occupant protection packages and scrappage rates were applied.
