Guide to Safer Freight Vehicles

This guide provides details of the new and amended Australian Design Rules that make up the Government’s Safer Freight Vehicles package released in October 2023, and the vehicles they apply to.

It also explains how to:

• apply for a vehicle type approval or vary an existing vehicle type approval for NB2 and NC category vehicles that meet the national road vehicle standards required for Safer Freight Vehicles, and
• add a Safer Freight Vehicle to the Register of Approved Vehicles.
