In Australia during the 12 months to the end of September 2007, there were:

• 161 deaths from crashes involving articulated trucks, down 10.1 per cent on the previous 12 months
• 64 deaths from crashes involving heavy rigid trucks^a
• 24 deaths from crashes involving buses, up 50.0 per cent on the previous 12 months.
