About the Program
The Australian Government has allocated $53 million across three rounds, over 2023-24 to 2025-26 for the On Farm Connectivity Program (the Program) to enable primary producers in agriculture, forestry and fisheries to extend connectivity in their fields and take advantage of connected machinery and sensor technology.
Funded through the Better Connectivity Plan for Regional and Rural Australia, Rounds 1 and 2 sought to assist primary producers to increase connectivity, improve safety and drive more sustainable farming practice.
Round 1 of the Program provided $13.8 million in rebates allowing over 1,500 primary producers to take advantage of digital agribusiness solutions.
Claims for rebates against approved applications under Round 2 were due on 31 May 2025. Round 2 is now closed.
Round 2 of the Program has provided over $16 million in rebates allowing over 1,300 primary producers to boost connectivity on their farms*.

Round 3
On 14 January 2025, the Hon Michelle Rowland MP, then Minister for Communications, announced $20 million in funding toward a third round of the Program as outlined in the linked media release.
Following the announcement of Round 3 of the Program, the department commenced consultation with a wide range of key stakeholders to support the design of Round 3.
Based on feedback received, some changes to the Program are expected. This means the List of Eligible Equipment, Grant Opportunity Guidelines, and any other supporting documentation from previous rounds may no longer apply and should not be used as a reference point for Round 3.
Applications for Round 3 are expected to open in the second half of 2025.
Have your say
Public consultation on Round 3 is now open. The department has released a Discussion Paper which outlines proposed changes to the Program.
The Discussion Paper and information about how you can have your say on the changes can be found on the Have Your Say page.
Public consultation is open until 5PM AEST Tuesday, 26 August 2025.
