Programme 3.2: Local government
Programme 3.2 Objective

The local government programme contributes to Outcome 3 by strengthening local government capacity and better supporting local communities through providing policy advice to the Australian Government and financial assistance to local governments. This includes:

  • making payments to state and territory governments for distribution to local governing bodies under the Financial Assistance Grant programme;
  • providing advice to the Australian Government on local government policy matters; and
  • supporting the National Awards for Local Government.
