Nadine's Story

Photo of Nadine I am a Barkindji woman and grew up in Sunraysia on Barkindji and Latje Latje land. I am studying Psychology at the University of Melbourne and working with the Department as part of the Australian Public Service Pathways Cadetship Programme. Through this programme, I have undertaken work placements in Corporate Services during my university holidays, gaining experience working in the public service while still completing my degree. I enjoy working at this Department because it is committed to providing an accessible and inclusive workplace for all employees. For example, as an Aboriginal employee, I have the opportunity to be involved in the Indigenous Staff Network. The Network is an invaluable support system, and allows Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander employees from any division to provide input into the Department's work relating to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. The Department's Diversity Team is truly committed to appreciating employees from all walks of life, valuing our unique stories and acknowledging what we can contribute to the workplace because of our diversity.
