Australia is renowned as a sporting nation. Our athletes’ sporting wins at the Commonwealth Games, Summer and Winter Olympic and Paralympic Games in recent times have set unparalleled performance benchmarks exemplifying our nation’s international competitiveness and success.
It is important that we hear from the community to help inform the Review Report and Australian Government’s consideration of options:
- how best to invest in the AIS, and;
- consideration of the institute’s optimal location.
Leadership and governance
The review will be led by Ms Robyn Smith OAM and Ms Erin Flaherty.
Ms Smith OAM and Ms Flaherty will be supported by a secretariat in the Department of Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development, Communications and the Arts. They will report to the Minister for Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development and Local Government and Minister for Aged Care and Sport.
The reviewers will consult widely, both within and outside the high performance sports sector, including eminent individuals with a diverse range of domestic and international, public and private sector expertise in major sporting events, commercial financing and investments, and infrastructure.
Deliverables
The review will report in the final quarter of 2023.
