Western Sydney International Airport major construction works now complete

Major construction works across Western Sydney International (Nancy-Bird Walton) Airport (WSI) are now complete, including a state-of-the-art terminal.

The terminal, which will house both domestic and international gates, is the product of over 9 million hours of work by more than 2,000 workers.

It showcases a range of sustainable features including more than 6,000 solar panels to provide renewable electricity, and rainwater harvesting for use in airport bathrooms, irrigation and cooling towers.

While major construction of the WSI terminal is complete, the fit out of the terminal’s retail precinct and airline lounges will take place closer to the airport’s opening.

The focus now moves from construction of the airport, to testing of the systems and preparing for the airport operations, as the airport gears up for opening in 2026.
